...do you love your rock n' roll? SECOND DAN exploded onto the Australian music scene with the release of their debut EP “Running Out of Feelings”. They rock and they swagger. The SECOND DAN juggernaut was well and truly launched last year when the band won Triple J's Unearthed for Victoria – which has been the starting point for a number of Australian acts over the past decade including Killing Heidi and Grinspoon. Since that date, SECOND DAN has been in high demand for their brand of infectious rock and roll, with passionate songs and live performance. The debut EP from SECOND DAN spawned two high rotation radio singles on the Triple J national network. The first single “Running Out of Feeling s” was on high rotation for over two months with regular National Net 50 charting – and received national airplay on the main commercial networks - Triple M Austereo and NOVA network. Running Out of Feelings” was selected as influential music press Beat Magazine's Single of the Week ,The follow up single “ Everything is Good ” was also immediately added to rotation, and demonstrated the diversity of songwriting for the band – adding emotional singles to the raucous rock sound. The band then teamed up with renowned producer Andy Baldwin (Cat Empire, Powderfinger, Waikiki ) to record the next single, " The City", a rollicking rock tune about a night out on the town . On the strength of their live shows, SECOND DAN were selected to play on numerous festivals in the summer of 2003/4 including the Livid Festival (White Stripes, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club), Homebake Festival (Nick Cave, The Vines) and the main stage at the St.Kilda Festival – the largest festival in the Southern Hemisphere with over 400,000 in attendance. SECOND DAN's appearance on the top-rating television program The Footy Show exposed the band and ‘ Running Out of Feelings' to over 1 million television viewers. Along with many of its own headline shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane , SECOND DAN has supported some of the premier rock acts in Australia including Magic Dirt, The Superjesus, Screamfeeder, and Big Heavy Stuff. The members of SECOND DAN are a blend of family, school ties and new blood. Brothers, Dan (vox and guitars) and Ant Rosen (guitars), grew up with a shared love of their parents' record collection – Beatles, Stones, Kinks and Dylan. They have been playing in bands together for years and have that innate musical collaboration on stage that comes from mutual bloodlines. Daniel “ Sticks ” Karni (bass) met Dan at school and quickly discovered their shared passion for music. They re-connected later in life to form the beginnings of SECOND DAN . The final piece of the puzzle is Tony Day (drums). Tony had been drumming in bands since the age of fifteen and has played with some of Australia 's best. On hearing a SECOND DAN acoustic set in a little St.Kilda bar one night, he was so impressed he asked to join. And the rest is . . . |
